Italian Champion
The first champion racehorse out of a Troy mare came in the shape of
Pelder, who showed a lot of promise in winning the Grand Criterium in Italy as a
two-year-old.
The following year Pelder won the Italian 2000 Guineas over a mile and was named their
champion 2yo and 3yo.
He was trained in France as a four and five-year old where among his successes he
numbered the Gr. 1 Prix Ganay, beating Alderbrook and other top-class horses. He now
stands at stud in France and his first foals are yearlings in 1997.
